Dancing Queen
Varietal: Gamay
Region: Fleurie, Beaujolais
Country: France
Format: 750ml
ABV: 12%
This is a combination of fruit from all three Fleurie parcels. The vines are aged between 40-105 years. The soils are granite, basalt and quartz. The grapes are cooled for 24 hours and then undergo three weeks of carbonic maceration. Zero additions. The wine was then raised in used barrels for 10 months. Not fined or filtered, and no added SO2 at any stage.
A gentle reduction, which Julie says will help protect the wine as it ages. And if you are to age any of the 2021's, this is the one. Opens up relatively quickly with a bit of air. Strawberry and roses start to emerge with time in the glass. Fine and linear palate, with lots of strawberry fruit. There is a lovely gentle tart aspect which is quite refreshing. Light but with surprising mid palate depth (not weight). Salty too. Good tension and fine tannins on the finish. Another stunner!
