Made from 90% Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and 10% Trebbiano and Ortrugo from 40+ year old Guyot trained vines, planted in lime and clay at a density of 2,200 - 4000 plants per hectare with Organic, natural green cover between the rows. No fertilizing, weed killers or pesticides. Vinification sees four months maceration on skins in stainless steel and/or cement tanks. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, aged in 40 hectolitre wooden tanks and in bottle for a time necessary, no filtration or sulphites added. Named after the lawyer Ageno from whom the Pantaleoni family purchased the estate in 1973. He believed in the potential of Malvasia and planted it across the estate. The 2018 Ageno is intensely floral yet savory, with hints of citrus pith and spice. Weighty and tannic with density and length. Pretty aromas give way to cream, caramel and honeysuckle on the palate and a pleasingly drying finish.
