Maison Petit-Roy Savigny-les-Beaune 2022 750ml

Savigny-les-Beaune

Pinot Noir from two parcels, ‘Les Vermots and ‘Les Godeaux’ – the former with vines planted in 1929. Both vineyards are on a hillside with south west exposure and are made up of clay and limestone soils. 100% whole bunch. Three day cold soak, followed by semi-carbonic maceration, with a little punching down afterwards for extraction. Aged in 228L seasoned barrels for 12 months. Settled in tank for a further 5 months. Not fined or filtered.

Much denser fruit on the nose. Intense and deep, sophisticated. Black cherry, hints of boysenberry, and a darker rockiness. Floral notes linger with air. A bit more oomph here - full mid palate that is dense, yet lightweight at the same time. Dark cherries, cherry pit, forest notes. Incredible length. Chewy texture, beautiful acidity and gentle tart notes are refreshing after the dark fruit. Sticky tannins and spice on the finish. Seductive and classy.
