A tough year at Kinvarra with consecutive days of frost in late spring, difficult weather during flowering and a hail event in late summer leading to significantly reduced yields. However, as is becoming apparent, Chardonnay loves Kinvarra and what fruit remained come harvest was in beautiful condition. Made in the usual style - whole bunch pressed to a mix of new and old barriques and puncheons with a judicious amount of solids for ferment and subsequent ageing. Partial MLF with sensitive lees work. Grapefruit, white blossoms and barley water. A cooler season yeilding a core of bright acidity with lovely fruit weight and texutre.
Bottled after 11 months in barrel.
