Another one of Alsace's great Grand Cru sites - pale gold in the glass. Floral-accented aromas of tropical fruits, roses, mango and a hint of ginger in the background. Juicy and tightly focused on entry, then fleshier in the mid-palate, offering intense tropical fruit and spicy, peppery flavours that extend. Finishes very saline and long, with nice cut and impressive energy. The grapes used to make this wine come from two sets of vines planted side by side in the same plot, one in 1961 and the other in 1969. Full on in every way but with chiselled balance and beautiful length.
