Trousseau! Also called Bastardo in Spain. It is a really polarising grape variety which grows in such extremely different climate and soils around thew world and prove to be a resilient, vigorous grape variety with an extremely peculiar aromatic.
We manage to source some Trousseau from our dear friend Wayne and Suzi from Smallfry in Vine Vale, Barossa Valley where they replanted some Trousseau vines from their old Bush vines originally on the property.
The farming there is impeccable and the vineyard is certified Organic / Biodynamic and provide the vines all their needs on the sandy on clay soil of Vine Vale. Hand picked, the Trousseau underwent 7 days of carbonic maceration before getting crushed and left infusing on skin for an extra 5 days to build structure and complexity.
Pressed to French barriques and aged for 9 months before being bottle on site in our winery in Basket Range.
