Fruit from the Belbrook vineyard was supplemented by carefully selected parcels from the Coal Valley, Derwent Valley and East Coast. Parcels of Pinot Noir clones 777, 114 and D5V12 were fermented separately with small inclusions of whole berries and whole clusters. Matured for 11 months in 500-litre French oak puncheons (15% new) with minimal intervention before bottling.
Fragrant, plump, mid-weight pinot, exuding bing cherry, fecund strawberry and orange zest. Punchy and perfumed. A corset of tannin, a little drying, compresses the finish into a bow of savouriness. This should develop well. Drink or hold. Screw cap. 93 points. Ned Goodwin MW, jamessuckling.com Feb 2024
